Underwater Hockey Player making waves in the solar power industry

Lyndon Rive was not coddled as a child. He was raised with realistic values and knowing that life was exactly what you make of it. He is the CEO and co-founder of a company called SolarCity a company that was started in 2006 and is now one of the leading giants in the business of installing residential solar panel across the state of California. It’s not unusual for the company’s revenue to grow by leaps of 40 percent in a single fiscal year.

Lyndon Rive

Lyndon Rive was formerly a member of the U.S. National Underwater Hockey team and he says that growing up his mother did not dote on him. She worked late hours often until almost midnight and Lyndon says she was rarely ever able to come out to watch him play in boyhood sporting events. Lyndon, however, credits her with being one of the most inspirational influences in his life and not because her extremely focused work ethic made her a millionaire by the age of 45. Rive says it because she always encourage him to be everything that he could be and she supported him in whatever decisions he was willing to make for himself. Solar panels seem to have been an excellent choice for Rive.
Rive was born in Pretoria, South Africa and 38 years old. He married his high school sweetheart Madeleine and they have two young children whom they, of course, adore.

Lyndon says that his first job ever was teaching ballroom dancing. His mother, that he found a motivational hero and inspiration, ran a health-focused school in South Africa. His father was a chiropractor and built homes and he passed down a value to his children that they must always finish whatever they started. Rive discovered that his father was serious about that when he signed up for karate and then wanted to back out. For the ten years that followed, he continued to show up to karate lessons and events due to his father’s principle and he admits that it was under protest.

It was after that when Rive became involved in underwater hockey and having the standard he had now acquired through his experience with karate, he didn’t take it lightly, going on to become a member of the U.S. National Underwater team. Rive also enjoys mountain biking, kite surfing and snowboarding whenever he takes some time away from his busy work schedule to participate in leisure activities.

His typical workday will run from 8 a.m. until midnight although he generally takes some time off in the middle to spend with his children and help to get them off to bed. Rive describes himself as someone that is not really detail oriented and he says that there are many examples to prove this including the fact that he doesn’t know his own phone number unless he checks his listing on his phone. Rive claims that he loves his work and looks forward to Monday every single weekend.

Hopefully he will still find time to dive into a pool and push a puck around from time to time.
