The Boston Bruins have been making a lot of moves this year before their new season comes upon them. The most interesting news is that the Boston Bruins took on David Krejci for another six years, putting a large extension on his contract. This ensures that they’ll have one of the top five centres in the National Hockey League playing on their team which could even result in them winning the Stanley Cup again.
The Boston Bruins who only have another $3 Million in money they can spend to sign players used $1.5 Million to take on Torey Krug and Reilly Smith. Both of these men will split the $1.5 Million and they’ve only been signed on for a one year contract. Depending on how well they do during the 2014/2015 season they will be signed on again for another year or potentially even more. Both of these men are rookie defensemen but have proven themselves to have an immense amount of skill on the ice which is what lead to the Bruins taking them on.
The Boston Bruins know that they can’t keep on extending the contracts of players they’ve had for years. Some of their players are in their late thirties and early forties, they won’t be able to play for much longer after this season. This is what has resulted in the bruins signing on so many new players within the last two years, it hasn’t proved to be a bad decision yet as they were able to make it into the second round of the Stanley Cup Finals last season. Many speculate that they’ll win this year.
